Ingredients
for 4 servings
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups neutral oil, for frying
- 4 slices 3-inch thick Japanese milk bread slices
- 12 fresh strawberries, trimmed
Preparation
- In a bowl, use an electric hand mixer to whip the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until fluffy. Set aside in the fridge.
- In a medium saucepan on medium heat, heat the oil to 350°F. Fry each slice of milk bread individually, making sure to fully submerge the bread, for about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown.
- Transfer the bread to a cutting board, and slice each piece in half diagonally, and then carefully split each down the center with a sharp knife.
- Gently separate the bread to make an opening, and fill the pocket with the whipped cream.
- Add strawberries on top, and repeat with the rest of the bread.
- Enjoy!
