- 2 tablespoons potato starch
- 1 tablespoon dried red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil

Preparation
- Peel and grate the potato into a bowl. Squeeze the grated potato to drain all the liquid. Discard liquid.
- Season the grated potato with the potato starch, pepper flakes, turmeric, five-spice powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the cooking oil, and add the potato mixture.
- Press down firmly with a spatula until the pancake is evenly thin. Cook until the pancake turns crisp and golden brown, about 3 minutes.
- Flip the pancake, and cook until it crisps and turns golden brown on the bottom, about 3 minutes.
