Ingredients

for 5 servings

  • 1 8-count can of cinnamon rolls, icing reserved
  • 8 baking apples, such as Gala
  • melted butter, for brushing
  • brown sugar, for sprinkling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, for sprinkling

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Slice off the top of each apple and hollow out the inside using a melon baller, leaving a thicker base at the bottom and being careful not to cut through the sides.
  3. Add a bit of melted butter and a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon to the inside of each apple, then brush to coat evenly.
  4. Place a cinnamon roll in each apple. Place the apples in a baking dish so they remain upright.
  5. Bake the apples for15 minutes, then cover loosely with foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes, until the cinnamon rolls are baked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and drizzle with the reserved icing. Serve warm.
