Ingredients

for 2 dozens

  • 4 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic flakes
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 16 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk

Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 16 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1.5 tablespoons garlic flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and garlic flakes until evenly combined. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  4. Using a spoon or a small ice cream scoop, drop about ¼ cup of dough onto the prepared baking sheet for each biscuit, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Make garlic butter topping: mix together the melted butter, garlic flakes, parsley flakes, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
  7. As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter topping.
  8. Enjoy!
