Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup black sesame seeds
  • 4 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate spread
  • toasted sesame oil, for greasing

Preparation

  1. Grease a 9-inch square pan with toasted sesame oil. Set aside.
  2. Begin by melting the butter in a large pot and browning it over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Once done, toast the black sesame seeds until they become fragrant. This usually takes a few minutes.
  3. Add the marshmallows and a pinch of kosher salt. Stir continuously until fully melted and smooth, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and add in the chocolate spread. Stir until evenly combined.
  5. Then fold in the rice cereal until evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Press the mixture into the greased baking dish. Press lightly with an oiled spatula or your clean hand.
  7. Allow the treats to cool and set completely in the fridge, about 45 minutes.
  8. Once cooled, cut into squares or desired shapes and serve.
